Das Football – die Zweite Hälfte
Tonight marks the start of Stage Two. Three quarters of the matches have been played so I imagine you’ll all have piles of boodles by now, especially since I gave the second lot of boodles three days ago. Hmm, Shannon’s up 26 boodles, Daniel’s up 3.5 – not bad.
Everyone else: I’m very disappointed in you. I see Matt’s squandered the boodles he made with his lucky bets and his second fifty boodles already. Jackson hit 0 boodles when the Sparrowhawks, aka Togo, didn’t make it to Stage Two. I hope people are noticing that betting large amounts of boodles is not successful; or was not in the past. Maybe in this new stage will be more amenable to large bets. I’m putting 50 boodles on Argentina to win v Mexico – 1.33
Jackson tells me he wants 40 boodles on Germany to win v Sweden – 1.61
Something to note about Stage Two: If you pick a team to win, I’ll assume you mean in normal time, not in extra time or with penalties. If you’re betting to go through make sure you pick the to qualify bet, or extra time or penalties if that’s what you want.
You’ve got your orders, now wager your hearts out. And hey, let’s be careful out there.
(There used to be a table here but the website hosting it died. So it’s not here now.)

ahahaha, when I said “if you pick a team to win, I’ll assume you mean in normal time”, I neglected to mention that if I pick a team to win I’m talking about with extra time.

Alright, this isnt going well, Ghana was ripped off that second goal in the first half was clearly off side. Im expecting australians to riot right after they get over the Aussie loss.
This better bloody work!

I blame mattt for the Australia’s loss if you hadn’t placed a bet on them it would have been fine.I’m guessing the table hasn’t been updated so I’m going to place some bets hoping I have enough boodles* 25b Draw/England HT/FT (4.5)* 25b Germany/Germany HT/FT (5)

Alright alright alright. Time to lose some more boodles! Still very upset about Italy and Australia. Well, very is an exaggeration. Mildly irritated. It’s like the tag on my T-shirt is always up and perpetually rubbing against my neck.
That should do it. I hope these don’t screw up. It’s nice being somewhere near zero profit. I’d hate to end up down there with the Cockers. That is, the foolhardy ones, not you Daniel.

I’m a bit uncomfortable about having bet most of my boodles in comment number thirteen.

And I still have these from the last thread (so don’t take my boodles for them again Andy! Please. Sir. Mr Moneybags, sir.)

Woah! Brazil out! Honestly, these “sure bets” aren’t doing very well for anyone. And no penalties on the way either. Pah. At least England and Portugal did what was expected of them.
See ya, James! And another 10 boodles of mine.

Please excuse the lazy updating. With Australia’s loss and my large loss of boodles and dollars, I’ve lost most of my interest in this tournament.
irows has workbooks now instead of individual spreadsheets! Ok, so that excites only me, and it’s not useful now but it’s a big feature that irows was lacking.

”.. do you believe that all of the stupid people will not get lucky?”—Andy Cocker 2/6/06
I guess we are all too stupid for luck to be much use. Congratulations Ben and Hayko, well played. I am personally very proud of my effort to lose merely 99.5% of the boodles I was given. I am more certain than ever that professional gambler is the job for me. I’m off to Crown with my half a boodle right now (they accept boodles, don’t they?)

I’m assuming Andy is just too heartbroken to post about the results. Poor munchkin. I don’t think Ben and Hayko count. They clearly forgot to compete. I propose a retroactive rule that you had to bet at least one boodle to be eligible. As they don’t turn up here any more, presumably they won’t argue.
